Macaly vs a European alternative
A hosting group with 3.3 million SMB customers now bundles an AI builder into accounts across Europe. Worth reading before you adopt it: Macaly's Data Processing Agreement permits processing outside the EEA and names 37 subprocessors, most of them American. Ours names 8, and the American ones sit outside the path your site content travels. That distinction decides tenders, not marketing copy.

When Macaly is the better pick
- arrow_forwardYou have no site yet and want one built for you by describing it in a chat
- arrow_forwardYou want the builder, database, visual editor and hosting from a single vendor
- arrow_forwardYou already buy hosting from Combell or another team.blue brand and want it bundled
- arrow_forwardYou want the AI to test and debug its own output before you look at it
- arrow_forwardBudget is the deciding factor and the free tier's public projects are acceptable
When VibeDeploy wins
- check_circleA client contract or tender caps which countries may process the data
- check_circleYour DPO needs a subprocessor list short enough to actually review
- check_circleThe building already happens in Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT and should stay there
- check_circleAn agent must deploy over MCP without an agency-tier subscription
- check_circleHosting cost has to be predictable rather than metered across four separate counters
- check_circleThe site must outlive the tool that produced it
Common questions
Is Macaly the same thing as Combell's AI website builder?expand_more
Combell resells it. Combell lists three AI builders: AI Assistant (SiteBuilder), AI Site Assistant (Managed WordPress) and Macaly. Macaly is a separate Czech product built by Langtail that team.blue, Combell's parent group, acquired on 29 December 2025 and is now rolling out across its hosting brands.
Where does Macaly process my data?expand_more
Macaly's own Data Processing Agreement states that it and its subprocessors may process customer personal data in countries outside the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, with no data residency restriction. Annex III lists 37 subprocessors, including Anthropic, OpenAI, AWS, Vercel, Cloudflare, Clerk, Neon and Upstash in the United States. Transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Read it yourself at macaly.com/dpa before deciding whether that fits your situation.
How is VibeDeploy different if you also use AI?expand_more
We do not generate your site, so your content never passes through a model by default. Our subprocessor list has 8 entries. The two US ones, OpenRouter and Google Stitch, only engage if you actively use our optional AI features, and Backblaze only touches encrypted platform metadata, never site content. Build in Claude and deploy here and your site content stays on Belgian infrastructure.
Macaly is cheaper. Why would I pay more?expand_more
For a personal project, you probably should not. Macaly's free tier is genuinely free and its Pro tier at $25 sits close to our Maker plan at €15. The cost question changes when credits enter it: Macaly meters AI credits, traffic, database size and backend API calls separately, and failed generation attempts consume credits too. Our plans are flat. If you are building the site elsewhere anyway, you are not paying for generation you do not use.
Can I use both?expand_more
Yes, and for some teams that is the sensible answer. Macaly can export the generated code at any time, so you can prototype there and host the export here when the project needs EU residency or a shorter subprocessor list. Nothing about the two is mutually exclusive.
What is Macaly better at?expand_more
Getting from nothing to a working site without opening an editor. It plans the implementation, writes the code, runs automated browser tests, fixes what it finds, and gives you a visual click-to-edit surface afterwards. It also ships a relational database and image generation. If that end-to-end build experience is what you want, we do not offer an equivalent and will not pretend otherwise.
