European Alternatives to Vercel and Netlify (2026)

Nine EU hosts and one UK host compared on company country, data location, SSR and containers, DPA, trials and AI-agent deploys. Every cell sourced.

Short answer

Yes, there are European options. For static sites: IONOS Deploy Now (Germany), statichost.eu (Sweden), deploybase (Netherlands) and Bunny.net (Slovenia). For server-rendered apps and containers: Scaleway, Clever Cloud and Koyeb (France), Bunny Magic Containers, self-hosted Coolify (Hungary) and VibeDeploy (Belgium). Northflank is British, so outside the EU. Decide on jurisdiction first, then edge reach, runtime, pricing model and how much you want to operate yourself.

Try the Belgian option

Vercel and Netlify are American companies. Vercel's data processing addendum names Vercel Inc. as a Delaware corporation, and Netlify's terms give its address as San Francisco. Both offer a data processing agreement and both rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for transfers out of the EU, so using them is not automatically a GDPR problem. Still, more European teams now want the contracting company and the servers inside the EU, because it shortens procurement and removes a transfer from the data map. This page lists the European hosts we found, ourselves included, with what each one does well and where it falls short.

What you are moving away from

A few facts from Vercel's and Netlify's own pages explain why this question comes up at all:

  • Vercel's DPA covers Pro and Enterprise. Its addendum "applies to Vercel's Processing of Personal Data as a Processor under the Agreement for Customers who are on Enterprise and Pro plans". Transfers from the EEA use the 2021 standard contractual clauses.
  • Vercel Functions start in the United States. Vercel's docs say functions "execute in Washington, D.C., USA (iad1) for all new projects" unless you pick another region. Static files are cached on its global CDN.
  • Netlify's DPA is part of its terms. Netlify's GDPR page says the DPA "is incorporated by reference" in its terms, and its privacy policy lists the standard contractual clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for transfers.

None of that is a reason to panic. It is a reason to know which company and which country sit behind your site before a customer or a public buyer asks.

How we built this list

We checked each vendor's own website, documentation, terms and data processing agreement on 13 October 2026. Every cell below traces to a link in the Sources section at the end. Where a vendor's pages did not answer a question, the cell says "not stated" rather than a guess. The list includes companies based in the EU plus one British company, Northflank, flagged because the UK is outside the EU. Prices are left out of the table on purpose: they change often, so the pricing column describes the model instead. VibeDeploy is our own product. It is in the table, and it gets its own section about where it is weaker.

The hosts, one by one

IONOS Deploy Now (Germany)

IONOS SE is registered in Montabaur. Deploy Now connects a GitHub repository, builds it with GitHub Actions and publishes the output to IONOS hosting, and feature branches get their own preview URL. IONOS says European customers are served from a data centre in Germany. It handles static sites, single-page apps and PHP apps with MariaDB, but "IONOS does not provide server side rendering with Node.js on the runtime infrastructure", so a Next.js app has to be exported as static files. Good fit: a static or PHP site kept in GitHub, with a German contract. Watch out: GitHub is the only supported Git source.

statichost.eu (Sweden)

A Stockholm company founded in 2022 that builds from any Git provider with any Docker image and serves the static result; you can also upload a ZIP. Its FAQ says every layer, from servers to CDN and DNS, runs on European providers with no AWS and no Cloudflare, and its DPA says visitor IP addresses are not stored. Good fit: privacy-first static sites and documentation. Watch out: static output only, so anything with a server needs a second provider.

Scaleway (France)

Scaleway SAS in Paris, part of the iliad group, is a full cloud rather than a site host. For a website you combine the bucket website feature of Object Storage for static files with Serverless Containers for anything that renders on a server; any container that listens on the PORT variable runs, in Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw or Milan. Good fit: teams that like assembling building blocks with the CLI or Terraform. Watch out: more setup than a host that turns a Git push into a URL.

Clever Cloud (France)

Clever Cloud SAS in Nantes says it operates its own data centres in France. It also offers more regions in Europe and abroad, Canada included, some run with partners such as OVHcloud, Scaleway, IONOS and Oracle Cloud, so pick the region deliberately. It is a platform-as-a-service with runtimes for static apps, Node.js, Docker and a long list of languages, plus managed PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis and other databases. Its DPA is public and built on the Commission's standard contractual clauses. In October 2026 it published an agent skill that teaches coding assistants its CLI, and it points to an MCP server for its API. Good fit: full applications with a database under French jurisdiction. Watch out: instances, scalers and add-ons take some learning.

Koyeb (France)

Koyeb SAS, registered in Boulogne-Billancourt, runs containers and Git-built apps on bare-metal servers, with European regions in Frankfurt and Paris and a managed serverless Postgres. Koyeb announced in February 2026 that it is joining Mistral AI, calling the deal "subject to closing conditions"; new users now need a paid plan and a payment method. It publishes a DPA and a beta MCP server. Good fit: containerised APIs and inference. Watch out: plans may change while the company moves into Mistral Compute.

Bunny.net (Slovenia)

BunnyWay d.o.o. in Ljubljana is best known for its CDN. Static files live in Bunny Storage, whose primary regions include Frankfurt and Stockholm, behind a CDN that delivers worldwide, and Magic Containers runs Docker images in the regions you choose, with a published guide for Next.js. Good fit: audiences spread across continents that still want a European company. Watch out: a worldwide CDN answers visitors from edge locations around the globe, so put that on your data map.

deploybase (Netherlands)

deploybase is run by TwanIT, a sole proprietorship in Zwolle. It builds from Git, gives every branch a preview URL, can promote an earlier deployment back to production in seconds, and handles form submissions. Its infrastructure sits at Scaleway in Paris with a CDN from Bunny.net, and all four of its sub-processors are EU companies. Next.js runs as a static export; functions and Astro server rendering are in beta on paid plans, and containers are out of scope by decision. Good fit: static team sites with previews, forms and an agent that deploys over MCP. Watch out: no backend beyond the functions beta.

Coolify (Hungary)

Coolify is open-source software from coolLabs Solutions Kft. that you install on your own servers, or connect to Coolify Cloud, where coolLabs manages the dashboard while your apps still run on your servers. It deploys static sites, apps from Git, any Docker image and databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis, and an AI client can connect to its built-in MCP endpoint with an API token. Good fit: developers who want full control and a server bill instead of a platform bill. Watch out: you run the servers, updates, monitoring and backups, and your data sits wherever you rent the hardware.

Northflank (United Kingdom, outside the EU)

Northflank Ltd is registered in London. Its terms say "Our Services are hosted in the United Kingdom", while your workloads run in the region you pick, with European options in Frankfurt, the Netherlands and Zurich, or in your own cloud account. It runs containers, databases and scheduled jobs and bills per second of usage. We did not find a DPA on its public pages. Good fit: container platforms and bring-your-own-cloud setups. Watch out: the company is British, so ask your data protection officer how UK processing fits your policy.

VibeDeploy (Belgium)

This is us. Tnet Comm.V in Diest runs VibeDeploy on its own Kubernetes cluster in Belgium. Static sites and single-page apps are served directly. A site can also run containers next to it (your own server, Postgres, MySQL, Redis or workers; up to 6 services with 2 CPU and 2 GiB in total), deployed by your AI through the MCP tool deploy_app and isolated with gVisor. Container data is not yet included in snapshots. Your assistant can deploy through our MCP server with OAuth sign-in from Claude, Cursor, VS Code or ChatGPT (where the plan grants write access to a custom MCP server), or through a deploy guide you paste into any chat. Contact forms go through a built-in relay, Maker and up can make a site private or password-protected, and every paid plan includes a DPA. Plans are flat: Solo EUR 4, Maker EUR 15 and Studio EUR 39 a month, and prices include VAT where it applies. You can try it for 14 days without a card, including one custom domain you already own.

Where VibeDeploy is weaker

We would rather you hear this from us than find it out after a migration:

  • One region. Everything runs in Belgium. There is no global edge network, so a visitor in Sydney or São Paulo waits longer than on a CDN-backed host such as Bunny.net or a static host with a world-wide CDN.
  • Next.js server rendering only as a container. Static exports are served directly; a server-rendered Next.js app runs as a container next to the site, inside the per-site limits above.
  • Containers are young. Container volumes, and therefore databases, are not yet in snapshots, and container logs come back through the MCP tool get_app_status rather than a dashboard view.
  • A small company. Tnet Comm.V is not IONOS or Scaleway. If you need a large vendor's support desk and certifications, weigh that.
  • US sub-processors exist. Eight sub-processors are listed on our sub-processor page. Customer site content does not pass a US processor unless you use the AI site-builder features, which run through OpenRouter and Google Stitch.

What we do differently: an AI assistant can publish, edit and redeploy over MCP without API keys, a real backend can sit next to a static site, form submissions never touch a form SaaS, and sites can be private, all under one Belgian contract.

How to choose

Start with the question that would end the conversation with your customer or your legal team, then narrow down:

  1. Jurisdiction. Must the contracting company be in the EU? Then Northflank drops out and every other row stays. Must every sub-processor be European as well? Read the lists: statichost.eu says every layer runs on European providers, and deploybase names four sub-processors, all in the EU.
  2. Edge reach. Mostly European visitors? A single EU region is fast enough. Visitors on every continent? A CDN-backed option such as Bunny.net, deploybase or statichost.eu's world-wide CDN serves them faster.
  3. Runtime. A static site or SPA fits every option here, although on the pure container platforms you package it with a small web server yourself. Node.js server rendering, containers or a database narrows it to Scaleway, Clever Cloud, Koyeb, Bunny Magic Containers, Coolify, Northflank or VibeDeploy. deploybase has functions and Astro server rendering in beta, and a PHP app with MariaDB also fits IONOS Deploy Now.
  4. Pricing model. Usage billing (Scaleway, Clever Cloud, Koyeb, Bunny.net, Northflank) follows your traffic and compute, so a quiet month costs less and a busy one more. Flat plans (deploybase, VibeDeploy, IONOS) make the monthly bill predictable.
  5. Operations. Coolify gives you the most control and the most work. The managed platforms take updates, certificates and failures off your plate.
  6. Who deploys. If an AI assistant writes and ships your site, check the last column: an agent that can deploy and redeploy by itself saves the copy-paste loop.

Questions people ask

Is there a European alternative to Vercel?

Several, but none copies the whole product. For static sites and single-page apps, IONOS Deploy Now, statichost.eu, deploybase and Bunny.net are EU companies that can store your files in the EU (on Bunny.net, pick an EU storage region). For server-rendered apps and containers, look at Scaleway, Clever Cloud, Koyeb, Bunny Magic Containers, Coolify on your own servers, or VibeDeploy. The comparison table shows which one runs what.

Is Netlify GDPR compliant?

We do not give legal verdicts. The facts: Netlify, Inc. is based in San Francisco. Its GDPR page says its DPA is incorporated by reference in its terms, and its privacy policy names the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework as transfer mechanisms. Whether that fits your project is for you or your data protection officer to judge.

Which EU host runs Next.js with server-side rendering?

Hosts that run Node.js or containers: Scaleway Serverless Containers, Clever Cloud's Node.js runtime, Koyeb, Bunny Magic Containers (it has a Next.js guide), Coolify on your own server, and VibeDeploy, where Next.js runs as a container next to the site. IONOS Deploy Now and statichost.eu serve static exports only, and deploybase runs Next.js as a static export with server rendering limited to an Astro beta.

Can AI agents deploy to an EU host?

Yes. VibeDeploy runs a hosted MCP server with OAuth sign-in, deploybase a hosted MCP server that takes an API key, and Coolify a built-in MCP endpoint on your own instance. Koyeb (beta) and Clever Cloud (early software) publish MCP servers that run on your machine with an API token. Setup for VibeDeploy is on the MCP page.

What about Cloudflare Pages?

Cloudflare, Inc. is a US company in San Francisco. Its Data Localization Suite can keep the processing of a Pages project and its logs in a region you choose, but Cloudflare lists that suite as an Enterprise-only paid add-on. Our side-by-side is on VibeDeploy vs Cloudflare Pages.
